Guidelines for submitting images
to Ponkawonka Inc.

Who we are
Ponkawonka Inc. is an all-digital, on-line stock photo agency specializing in images of a religious and spiritual nature. Clients can, after registering and obtaining a password, search our on-line files of thumbnailed images. They can select photos and store them in an on-line light-box for future reference or send to an associate.

What we are looking for
We are looking for high quality photos of religious & spiritual life. Everything from photos depicting ritual, prayer, places of worship, concepts within religions, historic sites. Anything that a buyer might want for a newspaper, magazine, calendar, book, annual report or brochure). The images could be used for editorial or commercial use. Photos that are model/property released can be used for commercial uses. We prefer released images but will take non-released images for editorial use.

What we pay
Ponkawonka takes each image and prepares it for our web based catalogue. We need to know who took the photo, the caption, basic keywords and then we rename it according to our database rules for the on-line search. Previews and thumbnails (high resolution photos are not kept on-line) are uploaded and available for viewing in our password protected site. Requests are taken by phone and e-mail and we deal directly with users that want to license images. Ponkawonka tracks the usage of each image, takes care of the billing and the collection. The revenue from our sales are split 50/50 between the agency and photographer. Fees are paid quarterly after payment is received from the client. There is no charge to be part of the collection but we do ask photographers to submit a minimum of photos keep on submitting work as long as they are part of the agency. We expect a five year commitment. Our relationship with our photographers is non-exclusive so they are free to sell their work with other agencies or to continue selling their work themselves as long as it is not for royaly free.

How to Submit
Now that you understand what we do and if you believe your images are suited to our agency, send us an e-mail or letter and tell us about yourself and your work. If we are taking on new photographers we will ask you to send us a selection of 30-40 photos by e-mail. They should be no larger than 72 dpi and 6 inches longest dimension and be a cross section of tyour religious/spiritual images.

Within 2-4 weeks we will contact you and let you know whether we will represent you. If you are represented by Ponkawonka, we will send you a non-exclusive contract and make arrangements for the initial submission. Because of the large amount of work that goes in to cataloguing and inserting your images we expect a five year commitment to our agency.

Shipping Photographs
Do not send us original material. We do not accept transparencies, negatives or prints. If you are sending CDs from outside of Canada please make sure you put a customs sticker on it and mark it valued at the price of a blank CD ($1.00).

Minimum Digital Standards for Submission of Collection
Once a contract has been signed we will accept your images for our collection. Follow these rules in preparing your CDs. We recognize that digital imaging is constantly changing and we try and maintain high quality images for our clients. When you contact us tell us if you are shooting with a professional digital camera or are scanning from transparencies or negatives. Let us know what scanner you are using and we will tell you if it is of high enough quality. Generally we are looking for images taken with a digital camera to be at least 18 megs (uncompressed) and scanned images to be over 30 megs.
